Morro Bay State Park covers land that includes a lagoon featuring the namesake Morro Rock, a saltwater marsh that provides a habitat for a bird population and many outdoor activities to enjoy for a day, a weekend or just an afternoon. The climate of the park is rather moderate, and park officials suggest dressing in layers, especially near the ocean. Surfers of the region tend to wear wetsuits. The park also features a Museum of Natural History that offers nature walks, exhibits, lectures and other special events.
